Several changes to the MMC Retirement Club By-Laws were proposed and passed. See the details below.

We were also given an excellent presentation on what to know/look for in purchasing auto and homeowner’s insurance by LeighAnn Sargent of Lapre Scali & Company. Lapre Scali is a locally owned insurance brokerage company offering a wide variety of insurance products. If you have any questions, please contact LeighAnn at 480-456-8780 or by email at: lsargent@laprescali.com. You can also check out the company at their website: www.laprescali.com.

Our next meeting will be our July “Beat the Heat” luncheon. More information will be sent out later.

Club dues are due by May 15, 2011. Please send checks ($20.00) payable to MMC Retirement Club to

BY-Laws changes:
1. Terminology changes:
a. The term “MMC retirees” is changed to “Medtronic retirees” throughout the document. Our name remains the MMC Retirement Club because that is how the Club was initially registered.
b. The term “MMC Retirement Club Board” is replaced with the term “MMC Retirement Club Executive Committee.”
c. The term “Secretary” is replaced with “Communications Chairman.” All secretarial duties are combined with Communications Chairman duties. This eliminates duplication of effort and reduces one club officer position.

2. The due date for club dues is changed from May to January to better align with dental insurance benefit requirements and reduce confusion about when club dues are due.

3. Article III (Retiree Qualifications) and Article IV (Membership) are combined into “Article III Membership” which defines Active Membership and adds Associate Membership definitions and qualifications. (See the exact wording below)
Article III - Membership
Active Members:
Active members are defined as those Medtronic employees recognized by Medtronic HR as having met all Medtronic retirement qualifications and who are current on their annual Club dues. Active members shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of the Club.

Associate Members:
Any former Medtronic employee, surviving spouse or domestic partner of an active Club member may become an associate member of the MMC Retirement Club by obtaining sponsorship of an active club member and with approval of a majority of the executive committee of the Club.  Associate members must remain current on their annual club dues in order to retain their associate membership.
