Next Retiree Meeting and MDT stock action reminder

First, many of you who still own shares of MDT stock were sent packets with instructions on what you need to do with your MDT shares. Please follow up on this paper work as your existing shares must be sold in order to be converted into new shares of the merged company. Depending on where (ie IRA/401K or not) these stocks were held at the time of the close of the merger (January 2015), there could be tax consequences for this transfer sale. I'm not a financial expert by any means, but I do know that this sale could have capital gains consequences for many - you need to follow through with Wells Fargo or MDT Stockholder relations if you have questions on what to do. You should also be talking with a financial adviser and your tax professional.

Second, our next meeting will be Tuesday, March 31st from 1 to 3PM at Medtronic Tempe in Conference Rooms 3C/D. I have two speakers lined up for this meeting.

Jack O'Neal a Senior Real Estate Specialist with Solutions Real Estate will be providing you with real estate information that is specific to the needs of Seniors.
He will show you how to watch out for loan and investments schemes targeting retirees, provide information on housing options for you or possibly your parents, give you an awareness of the options and a network of reliable sources to aid you in your decision making process as you look at living in the right size home for your existing needs, and what you might need as you move into the next phase of your life or that of your parents.  Jack will also give us a realistic view of the current real estate market in metro Phoenix.

Maria Garcia with Heritage Services Agency will be presenting us with information on how to plan for and take care of the cost of cremation, burial, funeral arrangements, etc. Maria is an independent insurance broker who works with all the funeral homes in the metro area. She is going to give us an overview of strategies/plans.

I know that needing/wanting to downsize your living space  or move a parent into a new living arrangement can be daunting, and that no one wants to think ahead to their death. However, both are areas where some planning on our part can reduce both our stress and that of our loved ones and family.

I hope you will join me for what I hope will be an educational meeting.
